The unpretentious use of an MPC2000, turntables and a mic. So, despite being sample-driven, it’s not necessarily some ultra- ambiguous puzzle; neither is it the completely humorless and preachy rambling that is commercial rap and most underground hip hop now. Kind of in the throwback vein, in fact, à la early ‘90s Hieroglyphics, but fairly juicy and fun, with all components in the right proportion. ... more
